The third generation Chrysler Voyager was presented to the world community in 1996 - compared to its predecessor, the monocab was transformed externally, received a better interior, "tried on" modernized equipment and acquired new, previously unavailable equipment.

Serial production of the car was carried out at factories in the USA, Austria and China, and it lasted until 2000 - it was then that the model of the fourth incarnation saw the light.

The "third" Chrysler Voyager is offered in several versions - with a standard or increased ("Grand") wheelbase.

The total length of the minivan is 4730-5070 mm, its width does not exceed 1950 mm, and its height is 1800 mm. The center distance of the "American" has a gap of 2878-3030 mm, and its clearance is 130 mm.

The curb weight of the car varies from 1705 to 2035 kg, depending on the modification.

Voyager of the third generation was equipped with a wide range of power units:

  • The petrol versions of the single-volume engine had under the hood in-line “fours” and V-shaped “sixes” with a volume of 2.0-3.8 liters with distributed injection technology, which produce 133-180 horsepower and 175-325 Nm of torque.
  • Diesel versions relied on an inline four-cylinder 2.5-liter turbo engine with direct "power" and an 8-valve timing, developing 116 hp. and 262 Nm of rotational potential.

The minivan offered 5-speed "manual" or 3- or 4-band automatic transmissions and front or four-wheel drive (with a multi-plate clutch that sends torque to the rear wheels).

Acceleration to the first "hundred" takes 11.4-15.1 seconds for the car, and its "peak of capabilities" does not exceed 166-180 km / h.

Gasoline modifications of the "American" consume 10.4-15.2 liters of fuel in the combined cycle, and diesel ones - 7.2-8.6 liters.

At the heart of the third generation Chrysler Voyager is the Chrysler GS platform with a powertrain based transversely at the front. At the front, the car is equipped with an independent McPherson suspension with shock absorbers, a transverse stabilizer and steel springs, and at the rear - a dependent system with a continuous beam suspended by means of coil springs. The minivan boasts a power steering and braking center with disc mechanisms on all wheels (on the front - with ventilation) and ABS.

In the Russian market, the "third" Chrysler Voyager, in 2017, can be purchased at a price of ~ 150 thousand rubles.

Among the advantages of the car are: comfortable suspension, reliable design, unpretentious operation, affordable maintenance, roomy interior, high-torque engines, high level of practicality and much more.
He also lacks shortcomings: small ground clearance, mediocre sound insulation, poor build quality and poor headlights.
