In terms of the exterior, one can name the changed appearance of the radiator grille, the appearance of a sports spoiler giving aggressive side panels, a two-tone version (if desired, the roof / pillars will be black, body color is optional), a powerful bumper pad in the form of a pseudo-diffuser.

In terms of technical equipment, there are much fewer changes. The range of engines is the same - it is a middle-aged, already 123-horsepower 1.6-liter gasoline engine, as well as a more modern two-liter power unit with a capacity of 150 horsepower with multipoint injection. Both engines easily "digest" AI-92 gasoline.

The ground clearance of 19 cm allows the car to feel confident outside the city limits; among the innovations, one can note fully LED optics, as well as the ability to lock the central locking when the automatic transmission selector is moved to the Drive position. The SUV holds the road well, goes through turns with confidence and has a rather energy-intensive suspension that overcomes unevenness of the roadway even at high speeds without breakdowns.

True, for 1,200,000 rubles it is possible to purchase only a front-wheel-drive SUV in the Comfort or Elegance trim levels with a 1.6-liter engine.

A cute compact Chinese crossover, which ranks third in our list of the best SUVs under 1,200,000 rubles, has been produced since 2017, deliveries of the car to Russia began in 2019, and in just a little over a year, it managed to win the recognition of domestic motorists.

Chery Tiggo 4 is equipped with an uncontested 122 hp two-liter engine. from. This power unit is combined with a continuously variable variator. Clearance - 19 cm, trunk volume - 340 liters.

Already in the basic configuration, the SUV has a good set of systems that simplify the driver's life - push-button engine start, keyless entry to the salon, rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, ABS / ESP / TCS systems, air conditioning, four power windows, heated front passenger / driver seats, hill descent assistant and other options.

It is quite spacious here, while the trunk volume is impressive for a compact SUV, 428 liters for the all-wheel drive version and 468 for the all-wheel drive version.

Pleased with a good choice of power units. The base is a 1.6-liter engine with 114/117 horsepower (front / all-wheel drive, respectively). The two-liter 143-horsepower engine occupies an intermediate position, and the top-end gasoline engine is turbocharged (1.3 l / 150 hp).

There is also a one and a half liter 109-horsepower turbodiesel. Equally rich is the choice of transmissions, along with a six-speed manual transmission, there is a five-speed automatic and a variator for a 150-horsepower engine.

For an amount of up to 1.2 million rubles, you can purchase a complete set of Access or Life with all-wheel / front-wheel drive and a basic 1.6-liter engine. The equipment in these modifications remained practically the same: two front airbags, central locking system, front power windows and outside mirrors with drive and heating. It is because of the weak equipment that the new Duster failed to enter the top three.

The restyled version of the Chinese SUV is one of the most affordable in its class, but this does not mean that you are dealing with a poorly equipped car. Rather, on the contrary, it was the rich basic equipment that allowed the compact Changan CS35 to gain a foothold in the 5th place in the rating of the best new SUVs for 1,200,000 rubles.

Judge for yourself: you get two airbags, full power accessories, air conditioning, a set of ABS / EBD / TCS / ESC systems, an electromechanical parking brake, alloy wheels, an audio system with 4 speakers, roof rails, and exterior mirrors with electric drive, painted in body color.

In the engine compartment of the SUV, a 1.5-liter turbocharged unit with a capacity of 143 horsepower is installed, which is combined with a standard six-speed manual box or, optionally, with a six-speed automatic. An all-wheel drive transmission is not required, but this is the standard for most Chinese SUVs of the compact class. But the crossover can be called economical: in mixed mode, it consumes about 5.7 l / 100 km for a car with a manual transmission and 0.1 liters less for a complete set with an automatic transmission.

But for 1.2 million rubles, you can become the owners of the most "sophisticated" modification, complete with rear parking sensors, a parking assistant, dual-zone climate control, an electric sunroof and other options.

FAW Besturn X40

The subcompact SUV, which went on sale in 2017, is the youngest model in the Chinese brand's crossover lineup. The exterior of the car is typical for its class, modern, but without "zest". The ground clearance is 18 cm. Not the biggest, but for a compact SUV it is quite acceptable.

The salon also looks modern Spartan, the quality of the finish is not bad, the rear sofa is not too spacious, which is forgivable for the "Chinese", but the trunk is too small - only 375 liters, but for a small family this is quite enough. The only 108-horsepower 1.6-liter engine is combined with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic. All-wheel drive, like the previous model, is absent.

But for 1,200,000 rubles, you can become the owner of the most "sophisticated" configuration (although, in 2020, fresh with a gun costs a little more), with air conditioning, cruise control, keyless engine start, and an electric sunroof.

Renault Kaptur

Among the best new SUVs up to 1,200,000 rubles was another Renault representative - a compact SUV, which was developed with the participation of domestic specialists, that is, this crossover was originally intended for the Russian market. In 2020, the car underwent restyling, which almost did not affect the appearance. But the salon has become more modern, comfortable and ergonomic, and some new options have been added. A ground clearance of 20.5 cm and good exit / entry angles (31 ° / 20 °, respectively) allow the SUV to feel confident off-road.

The back of the cabin is cramped, both for the legs and in height, the trunk volume is also not impressive - 387 liters. Under the hood there are two power units: a base 1.6-liter with 114 horsepower and a 150-horsepower turbo engine with a volume of 1.3 liters. They are assisted by a five-speed manual transmission or a Jatco CVT.

Since 2020, an option with a two-liter 143-horsepower engine is available, the turbocharged engine was decided to be removed.

There are two engines: a 131-horsepower 1.8-liter engine, which is the base one, and a two-liter 139-horsepower naturally aspirated engine. The younger power unit is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, the older one - with a five-speed automatic. These power plants cannot be called economical: the base engine consumes 8.1 liters of gasoline, the older one has an average fuel consumption of 9 liters in combined mode.

For 1.2 million rubles, only the basic equipment is available, including front airbags, climate control, four power windows, a leather steering wheel, heated front seats, keyless start of the power unit, electric drive of external mirrors and other options.

If you want to save money, you need a SUV with four-wheel drive and good off-road performance, choose a car from the top of the rating. For those who prioritize equipment and comfort, it is better to pay attention to Chinese crossovers - they are usually very well equipped, but with everything else, everything is not so good.
