Its target audience is rich people who have already achieved a lot in life, who want to demonstrate their "high social status" to others through a car, but at the same time like to personally drive and travel long distances ...

The two-door of the third incarnation first appeared before the public in late August 2017 - as part of a special event organized in the British city of Crewe; and a few weeks later its "full-scale premiere" took place at the stands of the International Frankfurt Auto Show.

Having survived the “change of generations”, the car retained visual continuity, but at the same time became more attractive and faster, tried on a completely renewed interior, changed the technical concept, “moved” to the Porsche Panamera platform, and received a lot of new modern options.

Outside, the Bentley Continental GT instantly attracts attention - for all its external monumentality and presentability, the coupe looks attractive, dynamic and balanced.

The imposing front of the car is decorated with four LED "round" head optics, an impressive chrome "shield" of the radiator grille and a powerful bumper with large air intakes, and its sophisticated rear attracts attention with beautiful elliptical lanterns, following the outlines of the exhaust pipes.

In profile, the two-door has a majestic, but at the same time with this impetuous look - a long hood, a short front overhang, a sloping roof, smoothly turning into a "branch" of the trunk, inflated "hips" and huge cutouts of wheel arches.

In length, the “third” Bentley Continental GT is stretched by 4805 mm, of which the wheelbase “extends” by 2851 mm, and its width and height are 1954 mm and 1405 mm, respectively.

When equipped, the vehicle weighs 2244 kg, and its gross weight does not exceed 2714 kg.

By default, the coupe is in contact with the road with 21-inch "rollers" which are "shod" in tires measuring 265/40 at the front and 305/35 at the rear.

Interior

Inside the two doors, classic solutions and modern technologies are organically combined, which makes its interior look elegant, noble and up-to-date.

At the direct disposal of the driver are a large three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a "chubby" rim and a virtual instrument cluster, on which "painted" dial gauges flaunt (and it is impossible to replace them with another configuration).

A rotating three-sided section flaunts in the center of the front panel: for a muffled car, it shows a dull side, after starting the ignition, a 12.3-inch touchscreen appears here, and on the third side there are three analog devices (a compass, an outside temperature indicator and a chronometer).

Below, on the center console and tunnel, traditional buttons and controls are neatly concentrated to control entertainment, climate and other functions.

The interior of the third generation Bentley Continental GT is carefully designed from an ergonomic point of view and is assembled exclusively from premium materials: expensive woods, high-quality leather, aluminum and more.

In the front seats in the two-door cabin there are sports seats with integrated head restraints, developed lateral relief, rigid padding, a huge number of electrical adjustments, heating, ventilation and other goodies. At the back, there are two separate seats with a central "curbstone" and a sufficient supply of space for people of average height.

The British coupe has a small, but neat and convenient trunk in the asset - its volume in normal condition is 358 liters.

In a niche under the raised floor at the two-door hides a small spare wheel and a minimal set of tools.

Specifications

In the Russian market, the Bentley Continental GT is offered with two gasoline units:

  • The "basic" versions of the two-door are powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine with twin turbocharging, direct-distributed (that is, combined) "power", phase shifters at the inlet and outlet and 32-valve timing, which generates 550 horsepower at 6000 rpm 770 Nm of peak thrust at 2000-4500 rpm.
  • The "heart" of the top modification is a twelve-cylinder gasoline engine with a working volume of 6.0 liters with a W-shaped architecture, two twin-scroll turbochargers, a combined fuel injection system, a variable valve timing mechanism, a 48-valve timing belt and half-cylinder shutdown technology at light loads. Its potential is 635 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 900 Nm of torque at 1350-4500 rpm.

As standard, the coupe is equipped with an 8-band preselective "robot" with two clutches and an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch that supplies traction to the wheels of the front axle (for example, in Comfort and Bentley modes, no more than 38% of the thrust is used in advance, and in Sport "- only 17%).

Dynamics, speed and consumption

With the "driving" characteristics of the car - a complete order: from zero to 100 km / h, it accelerates after 3.7-4.0 seconds, and the peak of its capabilities falls on 318-333 km / h.

In the combined mode, the two-door "destroys" from 11.8 to 12.2 liters of fuel for each "hundred" of the run, depending on the modification.

Design features

At the heart of the "third" Bentley Continental GT is the modular architecture of the MSB with a longitudinally arranged engine, borrowed from the second generation Porsche Panamera. The body frame of the coupe is made of high-strength steel, and all external attachments are made of aluminum (with the exception of the trunk lid, it is composite).

An independent double wishbone suspension is used on the front axle of the two-door, and on the rear axle there is a multi-link architecture: "in a circle" with adaptive shock absorbers, three-chamber pneumatic springs and active anti-roll bars (they are equipped with electromechanical actuators operating from a 48-volt network).

The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering gear with integrated electric power steering and variable gear ratio. All wheels of the "Briton" are equipped with ventilated disc brakes with ten-piston calipers in front and eight-piston calipers at the rear (both with a fixed caliper): in the first case - with 420-mm "pancakes", and in the second - with 380-mm ones.

Options and prices

In the Russian market, the Bentley Continental GT of the third incarnation in the spring of 2020 is offered at a price of 14,248,000 rubles - this is how much dealers ask for a version with a V8 engine, while a more productive version with a W12 unit costs at least 15,725,000 rubles.

The starter package of the luxury coupe includes: six airbags, 20-inch alloy wheels, full LED optics, media center with a 12.3-inch screen, virtual instrument cluster, front electric seats, heated and ventilated, ABS, ESP, front and rear parking sensors, zone climate control, a premium audio system with ten speakers, cruise control, an electric boot lid and a lot of other "bells and whistles".
