The official premiere of Polestar 2, which became the first all-electric representative of the Chinese-Swedish brand and again its first mass model, took place on February 27, 2019 during an online broadcast, and at the end of March 2020 its production was launched at a Chinese plant in the city. Luqiao. At the same time, the conceptual forerunner of the five-door Volvo Concept 40.2 was demonstrated back in May 2016.

Externally, Polestar 2 looks attractive, modern, stylish and harmonious - a moderately aggressive "physiognomy" with "Thor hammers" in complex optics and a sculptural bumper, a dynamic silhouette with a heavily littered rear window, turning into the tail of the trunk, and embossed splashes on the sidewalls , "Upturned" stern with spectacular lights across the entire width of the body and a massive bumper.

In terms of its dimensions, the liftback belongs to the C-class according to European standards: its length is 4607 mm, its width is 1800 mm, and its height is 1478 mm. The gap between the front and rear axles of an electric vehicle is 2,735 mm.

Interior

Inside, Polestar 2 is tailored in the spirit of minimalism - a weighty multi-steering wheel with a "chubby" three-spoke rim, a fully "painted" instrument cluster with a widescreen display and a huge vertically oriented infotainment display that takes up the entire center console and contains most of the functions.

The interior decoration of the electric liftback has a five-seat layout with ergonomic front seats and a comfortable rear sofa, and its trunk in its normal state is capable of "absorbing" 440 liters of luggage.

Specifications

The Polestar 2 is powered by two AC electric motors (one on the front and rear axles), the total potential of which is 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque (that is, the output of each of them is 204 hp and 330 Nm).

The electric motors are powered by a 78 kWh lithium-ion traction battery installed under the floor and integrated into the body structure.

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the five-door "fires" after 4.7 seconds, gains maximum over 200 km / h, and on a fully "filled" battery it can overcome about 500 km in the WLTP cycle.

Design features

The base for the Polestar 2 is a modular CMA bogie with a monocoque body dominated by high-strength steel grades and fully independent suspensions (front - McPherson type, rear - multi-link architecture).

Regardless of the version, the electric car relies on a rack and pinion steering mechanism with an active electric power steering and disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated on the front axle). For a surcharge, the liftback can be supplemented with an adaptive chassis with electronically controlled Ohlins dampers and performance Brembo brakes.

Options and prices

In the countries of the Old World for Polestar 2 they ask from 57,900 euros, in the USA - from 63,000 dollars, and in China - from 418,000 yuan (≈4.6-4.9 million rubles, depending on the sales market).
