The Polestar 1 first appeared before a wider audience in October 2017 at a special event in Shanghai, but then only in conceptual status, while the fully serial hybrid coupe made its world debut in March 2018 at the stands of the International Geneva Auto Show.

Outside, Polestar 1 "flaunts" an elegant, modern, noble and really aggressive appearance - a predatory front end with spectacular headlights, a hexagonal radiator grille and a "curly" bumper, an energetic silhouette with a long sloping hood, expressive sides and a noticeable "branch" of the trunk, powerful rear with expressive lights and trapezoidal tailpipes integrated into the wide bumper.

Dimensions and weight

The length of Polestar 1 is 4586 mm, of which 2742 mm is the distance between the wheelsets of the front and rear axles, and in width and height it reaches 2023 mm and 1352 mm, respectively.

When equipped, the two-door weighs about two tons, and its weight distribution is close to ideal - 48:52.

Interior

The interior of the hybrid coupe is tailored according to modern patterns and is able to boast of high quality materials, finishing and performance - a stylish three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a "chubby" rim, a fully virtual instrument cluster and a beautiful center console with a vertically oriented "tablet" of the infotainment complex and a minimum of physical buttons.

Salon Polestar 1 is organized according to the "2 + 2" formula, that is, the back row here is rather nominal, since it is designed to accommodate only children or adolescents.

The front riders are supposed to have seats with a pronounced side profile, a large number of electrical adjustments and all the "blessings of civilization."

Specifications

The Polestar 1 is armed with a hybrid power plant, which includes a 2.0-liter Drive-E gasoline turbo four, generating 380 horsepower, a 46-horsepower starter-generator integrated into an 8-band automatic, and two traction motors 109 hp each that transmits thrust to the rear wheels by means of planetary gears (for thrust vector control). The total potential of the petrol-electric drive is 609 hp. and 1000 Nm of torque.

From zero to the first "hundred" of the premium coupe accelerates in about 4.2 seconds, and its "top speed" exceeds 200 km / h.

Thanks to a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 34 kW * h, the car is able to cover 150 km on pure electric traction.

Design features

Polestar 1 is based on a modular SPA "bogie", borrowed from Volvo models, but redesigned and modernized by 50%, and almost all body elements of the two-door are made of carbon fiber.

"In a circle" the car is equipped with independent suspensions with electronically controlled shock absorbers (they contain valves that can adapt to the driver's actions and road conditions): in the front - a system on double wishbones, in the rear - a multi-link.

The coupe uses rack and pinion steering with active electric power steering, and all its wheels are equipped with Akebono brakes with six-piston calipers and ventilated discs with a diameter of 400 mm.

Options and prices

Remarkably, Polestar 1 can be purchased either on a two- or three-year all-inclusive subscription (but after the specified period the car is returned to the company), or at a price of 155,000 euros (≈13.3 million rubles).

The standard premium coupe boasts: a scattering of airbags, fully LED optics, 21-inch alloy wheels, a virtual instrument cluster, a media center with a large screen, a premium audio system, ABS, ESP, dual-zone "climate" and the darkness of other "gadgets".
