Mazda CX-4 is a front- or all-wheel drive five-door SUV of the compact category (although the company itself positions it as an "all-road coupe"), which combines elegant design, high-quality interior and progressive technical "stuffing" ... Its main target audience is energetic young people (regardless of gender) who prefer active pastime and like long trips ...

At the Beijing Auto Industry Show, which opened its doors to the general public at the end of April 2016, the official demonstration of the new Mazda CX-4 coupe-crossover took place, which became the commercial embodiment of the Koeru prototype (which debuted in the fall of 2015 in Frankfurt). The car, built on the same platform with the CX-5, was dressed in the "family" design of the Japanese brand and received exclusively gasoline engines, and the Celestial Empire became its main market.

Mazda designers did their best and drew a beautiful and eye-pleasing car that will definitely attract attention in city traffic.

The most shocking coupe-like crossover looks in profile - a swift silhouette with a roofline lowered in the manner of a coupe, embossed influx of wheel arches and overwhelmed rear pillars.

But from other angles the car is harmonious and deliberately aggressive: a pompous "face" with an evil look of headlights and a branded "shield" of a radiator grill and a graceful stern with stylish lanterns and "trunks" of the exhaust system sticking out of the rear bumper.

In terms of external dimensions, the Mazda CX-4 is in the segment of compact SUVs: the length of the "Japanese" is 4633 mm, the gap between the axles fits into 2700 mm, and the height and width do not go beyond 1530 mm and 1840 mm, respectively. The clearance under the "belly" of the car, depending on the modification, is from 194 to 197 mm.

The interior of the crossover was created in compliance with the corporate style of the Japanese brand and conscientiously assembled from very worthy materials.

At the driver's workplace, attention is focused on a spectacular instrument cluster with a pair of digital “petals” growing from an analog tachometer, and a beautiful multifunctional steering wheel “steering wheel”.

The central console of the Mazda CX-4 is as if arranged according to German patterns with a separately placed 7-inch "tablet" of the multimedia system and an extremely understandable block of "climate".

The embossed front seats of the coupe-SUV have no problems with either lateral support or adjustment ranges, but the rear sofa does not stand out in anything special - it has a well-thought-out profile, but the supply of free space, especially above the heads, is limited.

The regular-shaped cargo compartment of the Mazda CX-4 in the standard form holds 400 liters of luggage. The backrest of the second row of seats folds in two asymmetrical parts almost flush with the floor, which brings the usable volume to 1228 liters. Under the raised floor there are tools and dokatka.

For the Chinese market, the Mazdu CX-4 is equipped with two (optionally) gasoline four-cylinder "aspirated" engines of the Skyactiv-G family with direct power technology and a 16-valve timing:

  • The initial versions of the crossover are equipped with a 2.0-liter engine (1998 cubic centimeters), developing 158 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 202 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. Together with it, a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive transmission are installed, as a result of which the average gasoline consumption does not exceed 6.3-6.4 liters in mixed conditions.
  • "Top" cars are allocated an engine of 2.5 liters (2488 cubic centimeters), providing 192 "mares" at 5700 rpm and 252 Nm of maximum potential at 3250 rpm. It is accompanied by a 6-band "automatic", connected all-wheel drive i-ACTIV with a multi-plate clutch in the rear axle drive and the function of kinetic energy recuperation i-ELOOP. In the combined mode, such a cross-coupe consumes no more than 7.2 liters of fuel per “hundred” of the way.

At the heart of the Mazda CX-4 is the CX-5 platform with a monocoque body, in which high-strength steels are widely used, and an independent chassis on the front and rear axles - MacPherson struts and a multi-link configuration, respectively (plus lateral stabilizers "in a circle").

The car uses a rack and pinion steering complex with an electric booster and a variable gear ratio. All four wheels of the crossover are equipped with disc brakes equipped with ventilation in the front, with a whole set of electronic "assistants".

In the Chinese market, the Mazda CX-4, according to data for 2018, is offered in six equipment options - "Energy", "Exploration", "Quality", "Leading", "Passion" and "Fearless". For a car in the basic configuration with a 158-horsepower engine and "mechanics" they ask for a minimum of 140,800 yuan, and for the same version, but with 6АКПП - 152,800 yuan (~ 1.4 million and 1.5 million rubles, respectively).

The standard SUV is equipped with: six airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated and electrically operated side mirrors, an electronic handbrake, air conditioning, an audio system with four speakers, power windows for all doors, ABS, EBD, ESP, ASR, fog lights and other equipment.

A five-door with a 2.5-liter "four" is sold in the Middle Kingdom at a price of 192,800 yuan (~ 1.9 million rubles), and in the "top" version - from 215,800 yuan (~ 2.1 million rubles).
