Audi A6 is a front- or all-wheel drive premium business-class sedan (aka "E-segment" by European standards), which combines elegant design, high level of prestige, comfort and safety, as well as really good "driving" potential ... The car is aimed primarily at self-sufficient middle-aged and older men (as a rule, family), holding high management positions or running their own business, who know exactly what they want from life ...

Its official debut Audi A6 of the fifth generation (but if you count from the "hundredths" - then the eighth) with the in-plant index "C8" celebrated in March 2018 at the stands of the International Geneva Motor Show, and after a few months its sales began in European countries.

Despite the fact that after the "reincarnation" the car remained true to itself, retaining the makings of the so-called "driver's car in its purest form", it has improved in all directions, without exception.

The "fifth" Audi A6 looks elegant, balanced and "thoroughbred, and it is difficult to find contradictory details in its appearance - an arrogant front end with a piercing look of LED headlights, a large" hexagon "of the radiator grille and a sculpted bumper, a monumental silhouette with a long hood, a powerful shoulder area and expressive sidewalls, a solid rear with graceful lanterns, connected by a chrome crossbar, and a "puffy" bumper.

Dimensions and weight

This car is a typical representative of the E-class: its length is 4939 mm, of which 2924 mm is the distance between the wheelsets, and the width and height respectively reach 1886 mm and 1457 mm.

The curb weight of the four-door varies from 1680 to 1825 kg, depending on the modification.

Interior

The salon of the fifth generation Audi A6 has a beautiful, progressive and solid design, impeccable ergonomics, exclusively premium finishing materials and a high level of performance.

At the disposal of the driver is a weighty multi-steering wheel with a four-spoke rim and an exemplary "instrumentation" with a pair of dial gauges and a colored display between them (and as an option - a virtual instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch display). There are practically no physical keys on the center console - it is left to the mercy of two touchscreens: the upper 10.1-inch diagonal contains infotainment, and the lower 8.8-inch is responsible for climate functions.

Formally, the sedan's interior has a five-seater layout, but in fact, the rear sofa is clearly molded for two riders (although there are still three headrests), and the tall central tunnel, coupled with the protruding central section of the pillow, will clearly not create convenience for another passenger. The front can be installed as "simple" seats with an optimal profile, wide intervals of electrical adjustments and all the "blessings of civilization", as well as sports or multicontour seats.

In the normal state, the trunk of the "six" is able to accommodate 530 liters of luggage, and this is in addition to almost perfect shape. "Gallery" folds in three sections in a ratio of 40:20:40 into a completely flat floor, significantly increasing the vehicle's cargo potential. In the right side niche there is a 12-volt battery, and in the underground - a 48-volt one, which supplanted even a stowaway.

Specifications

A wide range of modifications is offered for the fifth generation Audi A6 in Russia, which are equipped with the Mild Hybrid system (a belt-driven starter-generator with a lithium-ion battery, powered by a 48-volt network):

  • The basic gasoline engine is a 2.0-liter TFSI aluminum four-cylinder turbocharged, direct injection, 16-valve DOHC type variable valve timing, available in two boost levels:
    • on the 40 TFSI version, it generates 190 horsepower at 4200-6000 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1450-4200 rpm;
    • and on the 45 TFSI quattro - 245 hp. at 5000-6400 rpm and 370 Nm of peak thrust at 1600-4300 rpm.
  • The "top" modification of the 55 TFSI quattro is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine with a turbocharger in the collapse of the aluminum block, direct injection, 24-valve timing, valve travel technology and phase shifters on both camshafts, developing 340 hp. at 5000-6400 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1370-4500 rpm.
  • Under the hood of the 40 TDI diesel is a 2.0-liter TDI unit with a turbocharger, battery injection and 16-valve timing, which produces 190 hp. at 3800-4200 rpm and 400 Nm at 1750-3000 rpm.
  • Well, the "armament" of the 45 TDI quattro version hides a 3.0-liter "six" TDI with a V-shaped structure, a cast-iron cylinder block, a variable geometry turbocharger, direct injection and a dual-circuit exhaust gas recirculation system, producing 249 hp. at 3500-4000 rpm and 620 Nm of rotational potential at 2250-3000 rpm.

All variants of the three-volume are equipped with a 7-range preselective "robot" S tronic with two wet clutches, with the exception of the 45 TDI quattro - it relies on the classic 8-speed "automatic" ZF.

In our country, two types of all-wheel drive transmissions are declared for the car: for the 45 TDI quattro modification, it is a quattro permanent all-wheel drive with a Torsen self-locking center differential, which normally distributes traction in a ratio of 40:60, and for all the rest - a simpler quattro ultra system with a multi-disc a clutch that connects the rear axle if necessary.

Dynamics, speed and consumption

From standstill to 100 km / h, the business sedan accelerates after 5.1-8.4 seconds, and reaches a maximum of 237-250 km / h.

Petrol versions of the four-door on average need 5.8-7.1 liters of fuel for each combined "hundred" of run, and diesel versions - 5.2-5.8 liters.

Design features

The fifth incarnation of the Audi A6 is based on the modular MLB Evo bogie with a longitudinally mounted engine. The car has a steel body, but almost all attachments (with the exception of the side panel with the rear fender) are made of aluminum.

The sedan is equipped with independent front double wishbones and rear five-wishbones with conventional springs, but for a surcharge it relies on both adaptive shock absorbers and pneumatic springs.

The car "flaunts" an electric power steering and variable gear ratio, and as an option it can be equipped with a fully steered chassis with a steering axle. Ventilated disc brakes are used on all wheels of the four-door, complemented by a bunch of electronic "bells and whistles".
