The FAW Oley C-Class Sedan debuted back in December 2011 at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Since then, the Chinese have already made several attempts to bring the novelty to the Russian market and each time their plans have been thwarted. Initially, FAW Oley was supposed to come to us at the beginning of 2013, then the start of sales was postponed to the beginning of this year, and now it became known that the exact date for the start of sales of the sedan in Russia will be May 2014. Well, welcome to our roads!
The Chinese tried to make the appearance of FAV Olya quite dynamic and modern. At the same time, the sedan turned out to be a little cheerful, which is just a "smiling face" with extravagant bumper contours, an air intake successfully built into it and slanting eyes of the headlights. Well, the picture is complemented by a pronounced "penny" - a large manufacturer's nameplate on the radiator grill. In general, the design of the car is quite attractive, not boring and has its own style, i.e. recognizing FAW Oley on the road will be quite easy.
In terms of dimensions, the novelty fits comfortably into the framework of its class. The body length is 4485 mm, of which 2525 mm is the wheelbase. The width of the sedan is 1660 mm and the height is limited to 1465 mm. The track of the front and rear wheels is, respectively, 1429 and 1422 mm, and the ground clearance is 170 mm (which will be optimal for Russian roads). The curb weight of the FAW Oley is 1115 or 1138 kg, depending on the configuration. The volume of the gas tank of the novelty is 48 liters.
FAV Olya has a five-seater salon with a classic layout and a sufficiently large margin of free space. The build quality is still difficult to assess, you will have to wait for open tests on Russian territory. As for the interior design, here FAW Oley will clearly not be the leader in its price segment. Yes, the two-tone concept presented in the official photos looks pretty in general, but still a little rustic and old-fashioned. In addition, according to unconfirmed information so far, the Chinese plans to supply cars to Russia only with a single-color interior design, which will make it even less attractive. It remains to note only the trunk, which has a capacity of 450 liters, which is less than that of the Granta (480 liters), but more of the Priora's cargo compartment (430 liters).
Specifications. In Russia, the FAW Oley sedan will be sold with only one powerplant option. The Chinese commissioned her role to be performed by a 4-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 1.5 liters. The aspirated gasoline engine is equipped with a 16-valve timing mechanism and fully complies with the Euro-4 environmental standard, simultaneously producing 102 hp. (75 kW) maximum power at 6000 rpm. The peak torque of this engine is reached at 4400 rpm and is equal to 135 Nm. The Chinese are modestly silent about the dynamics of acceleration of their sedan, but they still willingly talk about the maximum speed, promising that FAV Oley can easily accelerate to 170 km / h. As a gearbox for the novelty, they will offer a 5-speed "mechanics" and a 4-speed "automatic" company Aisin (which has several modes: "economical", "plain", "rise", "descent", "snow" and "sport" ). In the case of a manual transmission, the expected average gasoline consumption should be about 6.5 liters per 100 km, but when the automatic transmission is installed, fuel consumption will increase to 6.8 liters.
The FAW Oley sedan was built on the basis of the PQ32 + platform, better known from the second generation Volkswagen Jetta. The Chinese have significantly improved the German platform, bringing it closer to modern standards and adapting it to its own conveyor. German partners from Volkswagen have also helped FAW develop the suspension for the Oley sedan. As a result, the novelty received a high-quality independent design based on MacPherson struts at the front and a reliable torsion beam at the rear. Ventilated disc brakes are used on the wheels of the front axle, and the Chinese preferred to equip the rear wheels with drum brakes. The rack and pinion steering mechanism is likely to receive standard power steering to help. FAV Olya is only front-wheel drive.
The Chinese designers did a good job in terms of car safety. The sedan received a modern energy-absorbing body made of high-strength steel, as well as additional stiffeners in all four doors. True, the results of the crash tests of the novelty are not yet known, which the Chinese promise to publish only closer to the start of sales.
Options and prices. The Russian version of the FAW Oley sedan will be offered to customers in only two trim levels: "Comfort" and "Deluxe", while the manual transmission is available only in the basic version, and the top sedan will be offered only in conjunction with the automatic transmission.
In the list of standard equipment for the "Comfort" package, the Chinese manufacturer included 15-inch alloy wheels, foglights, a full-size spare wheel, an additional brake light, adjustable headlights, ABS, EBD and BOS systems, front airbags, an immobilizer, 3-point seat belts with pretensioners and height adjustment, fastenings for child seats, fabric interior, adjustable head restraints for front seats, air conditioning, adjustable steering column, heated rear window, power windows for all doors, electrically adjustable side mirrors, driver's seat with mechanical adjustment in 6 directions, passenger seat with mechanical adjustment in 4 directions, as well as a standard audio system with 4 speakers and USB support.
The top-end version of the "Deluxe" FAW Oley sedan receives a leather interior, as well as additional equipment in the form of side airbags, power windows for all doors with anti-pinch protection, rear parking sensors, automatic dual-zone climate control, an on-board computer, a 3-spoke steering wheel with leather upholstery and a decorative engine cover.
The price of the FAV Oley sedan in 2015 in Russia is from 520 thousand rubles ("Comfort" equipment with manual transmission), "Comfort" with "automatic" is offered at a price of 555 thousand rubles. And the cost of FAW Oley in the "Deluxe" package starts from 580 thousand rubles.
