Chery Kimo is a city car - nimble and agile. It took more than three years to develop this 5-door hatchback, because, according to Chery, this model was developed for the global market (i.e. not only for China, but also for Europe and North America). Even the design of Cheri Kimo's hatchback was developed by Italian designers.
Although, to be honest, the design of Chery Kimo is not impressive. This is not to say that the car is ugly, but the only thing that "makes it stand out from the crowd" is the back and front. Of course, today it is extremely difficult to come up with something new, especially in the case of a two-volume body of an urban runabout. So it turns out that all the creativity of design thought is poured into the drawing of headlights and the art of positioning stamping or molding. Simply put - there is nothing special to say about the appearance of Chery Kimo - it is typical for cars of this kind. The only thing that is remarkable (in the case of a Chinese car) is that the car is really unique, you will not find "Cherie Kimo's older twin brother."
But there is something to talk about the Chery Kimo salon. And the interior - it is sometimes even more important than the exterior (besides, we are not Americans) - most of the time the driver spends in the interior of the car, and not on its hood. The Chinese were probably guided by this - together with the Italians, they made every effort to develop the interior of Chery Kimo.
The first thing that meets in the cabin is the upholstery, in Cherie Kimo it is good upholstery of the seats and pleasant upholstery of the doors, slightly reminiscent of brushed aluminum. The simple yet stylish center console blends in well with the beard of the tunnel. And even the KP handle has its own special charm. But most impressive is the instrument cluster. Spectacular wells of devices give the whole interior a certain exclusivity. Although it must be admitted that this "exclusivity" interferes with the convenience of reading information from devices (there are too many dots and dashes on the scales, besides, the numbers seem vague). The situation improves slightly when the dimensions are turned on - the bluish backlighting is insignificant, but makes the "image" more contrasting.
As for the space in the cabin - inside Chery Kimo, even in spite of its modest size, it is very spacious. It is quite comfortable to sit both in the back and in the front ... but if there are no more than 3 passengers. The Kimo's trunk is also perfectly acceptable. For trips to the supermarket, its volume is quite suitable. Only the opening angle of the fifth door is upsetting - it is too small, which makes the door traumatic.
The parking brake lever is also not happy with the ease of use. Yes, and it is difficult to call “it” a lever - rather, “a huge key with a button on the back”. Looks "it" is very unusual - to use, respectively, is also unusual and inconvenient. For example, in order to correct the trajectory in a turn, it will be difficult to dosed it with a handbrake. Although if you remember that "in the base" Chery Kimo is equipped with both EBD and ABS, then there should be no talk of adjusting the trajectory.
By the way, even some representatives of a higher class can envy Cherie Kimo's list of basic equipment. The car has everything - from alloy wheels to parking sensors. But the choice of engines is small. Those. for Chery Kimo, you can choose only a 1.3-liter engine with 82 hp. This engine is a joint product of the Austrian company AVL and Chery.
On a test drive, this engine at first even saddened - Chery Kimo reluctantly got under way and sluggishly accelerated, but later, feeling that the peak torque is reached only after 3800 rpm, it is possible to achieve quite acceptable dynamic performance.
The motor screams at such speeds, of course, loudly, but it pulls well. In short, it will do for the city. Although it can also work on the track - up to 120 km / h Chery Kimo feels very confident.
Price from Chery Kimo not bad ~ 350,000 rubles (in 2014), so he rather easily finds his customers in Russia. Moreover, the equipment of Cherie Kimo has almost everything you need.
