In the fall of 2014, the fourth generation of Pathfinder finally reached Russia (officially presented back in 2012). The test assembly of this car began in the summer - at the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, and in the second half of the summer the main conveyor was launched. The Russian version of "4th Pathfinder" is based on the American one, but there are still some differences between them.

Immediately, we note that the "fourth Pathfinder" finally became an urban crossover, abandoning the frame chassis. This is also emphasized in the external appearance: the complete absence of brutal elements, but an abundance of dynamic lines, low ground clearance (181.5 mm) and "pseudo-off-road" body kit - create a familiar image of "urban SUV". A little "off-road" is given to the crossover, perhaps, by its impressive dimensions - allowing it to be classified as a full-size SUV: the body length of the 4th generation car is 5008 mm, the length of the wheelbase is 2900 mm, the width does not go beyond 1960 mm, and the height rests to the 1768 mm mark (with roof rails 1783 mm).

A new chassis design and an increase in the volume of high-strength steels in the production of body parts have reduced the weight of the car. The crossover has lost almost 230 kg and now its weight is 1882 kg (in the front-wheel drive version) or 1946 kg (in the all-wheel drive version). By the way, "weight loss", coupled with improved aerodynamics, allowed to reduce fuel consumption, but more on that later.

The interior of the fourth generation Nissan Pathfinder has a three-row, seven-seat layout and a completely new interior look.

High-quality materials were used in the interior trim, and the ergonomics of the front panel and the driver's seat immediately earned praise from the world's leading auto publications.

The abandonment of the frame chassis allowed the manufacturer to increase the amount of free space, making the cabin even more comfortable, while the new EZ Flex Seating System for folding the second row of seats provides quick and easy access to the two-seater gallery.

We also add that in the top-end version, the car receives a panoramic sunroof in front and a glass roof over the rear seats. The luggage space of the novelty is also quite well organized.

The base boot capacity is 453 liters, but when the two rear rows of seats are folded down, the cargo area grows to 2260 liters. In addition, there is an additional niche under the floor, where you can hide a lot of different small things.

Specifications. In Russia, as in the United States, the "Pathfinder" with the "R52" index is offered with two variants of the power plant (both meet Euro-5 standards), but for Russia both of them are "deformed" (to reduce the tax burden on buyers):

  • The main engine is a 6-cylinder V-shaped gasoline unit with a 24-valve DOHC timing belt and a direct fuel injection system. Its working volume is 3.5 liters, and the maximum power has been reduced from 263 "American" to 249 "Russian" hp. The peak engine torque is at around 324 Nm, developed at 4400 rpm, and as a gearbox, the Japanese offer an uncontested stepless "variator" Xtronic CVT.
This Pathfinder has become 25% more economical than its predecessor (with a top-end engine similar in performance) - in a busy city, the fuel consumption predicted by the manufacturer will not exceed 12.7 liters (for the front-wheel drive version) and 13.7 liters (for the all-wheel drive version). execution).
  • The second option for Russia is a hybrid power plant, consisting of a gasoline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with a displacement of 2.5 liters and a return of 234 hp. (this is "according to the passport"), working in tandem with a 20-horsepower (15 kW ') electric motor (ie, the total power of the hybrid power plant is 254 hp). The maximum torque of the hybrid powertrain will be 329 Nm.
Note that he cannot ride on electric traction alone - the electric motor is used here exclusively to help the main engine (it allows to increase fuel economy, the electric motor is powered from a lithium-ion battery located under the third row of seats). In urban conditions, the "hybrid Pathfinder" consumes only 10.9 liters, and on the highway it is capable of keeping within 7.5 liters. As a gearbox, the hybrid modification also receives the Xtronic CVT "variator", but with modified settings.

Regardless of the type of engine, the crossover is equipped with a 74-liter fuel tank.

The Pathfinder's maximum speed is limited to 190 km / h, and the first hundred is conquered in 8.5 ~ 8.7 seconds.

As we said at the very beginning, the 4th generation car has a monocoque body instead of a frame chassis. The transition to the "crossover" layout was carried out at the expense of the FF-L platform, inherited from the Nissan Murano. The suspension configuration has also changed - now the MacPherson struts are installed in the front, and a redesigned multi-link at the rear.
For Russia, the suspension has undergone additional refinement in the form of replacing silent blocks and a number of other elements with reinforced versions. In addition, the shock absorber settings have been revised. All this will allow Pathfinder to feel more confident on our (not always high-quality) roads.

As for the behavior on the road, the transition to the supporting structure of the body significantly improved the handling of the crossover, but the off-road qualities were significantly reduced. However, to compensate for this fact (unpleasant for Russian road conditions), the intelligent all-wheel drive system ALL-MODE 4 × 4-i, available in older configurations and having three operating modes: "2WD", "Auto" and "4WD", is called upon.

Ventilated disc brakes are used on all Pathfinder wheels. The braking system is supplemented with standard electronic assistants - ABS, EBD and BAS.

Options and prices. For the Russian market, Pathfinder already in the base receives 18-inch alloy wheels, a system of directional stability, traction control, front seats with lateral and lumbar support, as well as heated, three-point seat belts with pretensioners, front and side airbags, side curtains security, leather interior, full power accessories, heated side mirrors, 3-zone climate control, Bose audio system with 12 speakers, 2 GB storage and USB support, 7 ″ touchscreen display, rear view camera, central locking with remote control and immobilizer ... A total of four equipment options are offered: "Mid", "High", "High +" and "Top".

The cost of the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder crossover in Russia starts at 2 million 755 thousand rubles (for the “Mid” configuration with a 3.5-liter V6) and reaches 3 million 65 thousand for the “Top” configuration with the same power unit. The hybrid modification is available starting with the "High" configuration at a price of 2 million 975 thousand rubles (that is, 120 thousand rubles more expensive than the "usual" in this and subsequent trim levels).
