The second generation Subaru Legacy was presented to a wide audience in October 1993 - in fact, it was the old car, which received a more pleasant appearance, slightly increased dimensions and modern equipment. After the restyling, carried out in 1996, the "Japanese" slightly transformed externally and internally, and also acquired previously inaccessible "chips". The conveyor production of the machine was discontinued in 1999 due to the release of the next generation model.

The "second" Subaru Legacy is a "representative" of the mid-size "class", the body palette of which includes three-volume and cargo-passenger modifications.

The overall length of the car is 4595-4670 mm, its height reaches 1405-1410 mm, and its width extends to 1695-1700 mm. The distance between the axles and the value of the ground clearance of the "Japanese" are 2630 mm and 160 mm, respectively.

"Legacy" of the second incarnation was presented on the market exclusively in petrol versions - the car was "armed" with horizontally opposed four-cylinder engines with a volume of 1.8-2.5 liters:

  • atmospheric installations developed 115-175 horsepower and 154-230 Nm of torque,
  • turbocharged - 200-280 "stallions" and 260-338 Nm of peak thrust.

The motors worked in conjunction with a 5-speed manual gearbox or 4-speed automatic gearbox, front (offered only for some units) or all-wheel drive (on "mechanical" versions - with a symmetrical center differential, and on "automatic" versions - with a multi-plate clutch in the rear axis).

“In a circle” the second “release” of Subaru Legacy is equipped with an independent chassis: MacPherson strut struts are used at the front, and a multi-link system at the rear.
The steering complex of the car is formed by a rack and pinion gear and a hydraulic control amplifier. On all wheels of the "Japanese" disc brakes are implemented, supplemented by ventilation on the front axle and anti-lock technology (ABS).

"Legacy" of the second generation stands out for its spacious interior, reliable design, decent cross-country ability, good dynamics, good equipment, high-quality assembly, high maintainability and an excellent level of comfort.

The car also has disadvantages: expensive original parts, poor sound insulation and high fuel consumption.
